This ensemble brings together Icelanders as well as Norwegians with connections to Iceland. Laffí places a strong emphasis on Icelandic repertoire, with a particular focus on contemporary music. During its most recent season, the ensemble presented a concert devoted entirely to works by Icelandic women composers, with most of them being living composers.
As part of „Reykjavík Opera Days“, Rebekka and Laffí Vocal Ensemble will take part in Navaranaaq, a project highlighting music from Iceland, Greenland and Norway. Rebekka will conduct parts of the programme and will also perform as a violinist on one of the works. At the heart of Rebekka’s work is a belief that choral singing should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, gender or background. She has organised and led her own summer courses for choral singers in Reykjavík on several occasions and has toured Norway and Iceland with folk music workshops for choirs as part of the folk duo Norðfólk.
