Kristín Einarsdóttir Mäntylä grew up in Reykjavík, where she sang with the choirs of Langholtskirkja. As a member of the choir Graduale Nobili and the Icelandic singer Bjork, she went on a two year world tour with the album “Biophilia”.

She studied singing at the “Reykjavík Academy of Singing and Vocal Arts” with Harpa Harðardóttir as her teacher, and continued her studies at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater – Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig, with Prof. Regina Werner – Dietrich and Prof. Brigitte Wohlfarth.

Kristín finished her Masters Degree in 2021 and her Meisterklassedegree in 2024 with highest honors. During her Meisterklasse she worked as an assistant teacher to Prof. Brigitte Wohlfarth as well as singing in numerous opera houses and concert houses in Germany.

She has performed various opera roles in the operahouses in Leipzig, Altenburg – Gera, Brandenburg, Dessau, the Icelandic opera as well as singing with Szene 12 Dresden and Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen. She has been a concert soloist at the Berliner Konzerthaus, Leipzig opera, Bach Fest Leipzig, Rheinsberg Schlosstheater, the Icelandic opera and Harpa concert house.

Her next roles will be the role of Marie in Alban Bergs Opera “Wozzeck” at the opera house in Würzburg, and the role of Cherubino in Mozarts “Le Nozze di Figaro” in Bernburg.

Kristín won the Award “Junge Stimmen Leipzig” in 2016, as well as beint a scholarship holder from the Richard Wagner Verband Leipzig, Yehudi-Menuhin “Live Music Now” Leipzig, Inggjaldssjóður, Tónlistarsjóður Marinós Péturssonar and Minningarsjóður Vilhjálms Vilhjálmssonar.
