Kristín Einarsdóttir Mäntylä

Icelandic soprano Kristín Einarsdóttir Mantyla (Kristin E Mantyla) grew up singing in the renowned choral tradition of Langholtskirkja in Reykjavík. After studying with Harpa Harðardóttir at the Reykjavik Academy for Vocal Arts, she went on to the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, where she studied with Prof. Regina Werner-Dietrich and Prof. Brigitte Wohlfarth, completing her Meisterklasse degree with highest honours in 2024. From 2022 to 2024 she also worked as assistant to Prof. Brigitte Wohlfarth.
Kristín has appeared at numerous opera houses in Germany, including Leipzig, Würzburg, Dessau, Gera, Altenburg, Brandenburg and Nordhausen, as well as in productions with Szene 12 in Dresden and at Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen. Her recent roles include Marie in Alban Berg’s Wozzeck, the title role in the contemporary opera Svadba at Theater Bonn to critical acclaim, and Elle in Poulenc’s La voix humaine at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík. She is currently performing Judith in Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle in Leipzig.
In addition to her stage work, Kristín has appeared as a soloist at the Konzerthaus Berlin, Bachfest Leipzig, Rheinsberg Schlosstheater and the Icelandic Opera. She is a laureate of the Junge Stimmen Leipzig prize and has received grants from the Richard Wagner Society Leipzig and Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now – Leipzig.
