Sólrún studied the piano as a child, sang in choirs and started taking voice lessons at a very young age. She furthered her studies and completed bachelor's and master's degrees in solo singing and pedagogy at Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana. Among her teachers there was the well-known Romanian singer Virginia Zeani.

Sólrún went straight from her studies to Germany to work at the country's many opera houses. and theaters and in many parts of Europe as well. Her first engagement was at the theater in Kaiserlautern. Her next engagement was at the Opera House in Hannover with a permanent guest contract with Düsseldorf and in addition she made numerous guest contracts with i.a. Staatsoper in Munich, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, Kassel, Bremen, Liège, Belfast, Avignon, Bern etc.

Her many roles include Mimi in La Bohème, Suor Angelica in the opera of the same name, Lia in Turandot, Desdemona in Otello, Gilda in Rigoletto, Elisabetta in Don Carlo, the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Elettra in. Idomeneo and Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Margarita in Faust, Leonora in Fidelio, Michaela in Carmen, Antonia in Adventures of Hoffmann et al.

She has also performed many times as a soloist with orchestras, singing many Lieder Abende. as well, oratorios and Viennese music, in Iceland and abroad. In the fall of 2022, Sólrún moved back home to Iceland after a long stay abroad and is active performing as a classical singer on different occasions and venues. She has developed her own project which she calls “An operatic flow” or Soulflowsinging, in which she performs on various occasions and scenarios, singing a cappella in an intuitive flow. She has also developed her own holistic voice teaching method based on psycho synthesis therapy and her own experience and intuition. The lessons are not only designed for singers but for everyone who wishes to get to know their voice better and use it for healing, cleansing and joy. In addition, she has developed a Sound - frequency treatment that gives people the opportunity to clear blockages and trauma, to align with their inner self and activate healing.
