One of the causes closest to our hearts at Reykjavík Opera Days is bringing the art of singing beyond traditional concert venues and creating unexpected and magical experiences for people of all ages.

We visit primary schools, secondary schools and universities, introducing younger generations to the art of singing in a lively and engaging way – for example, through opera walks in local neighbourhoods, where music suddenly comes to life in unexpected places, or through fun and accessible opera performances.

Just as important are our visits to nursing homes, as well as private performances for vulnerable groups and people who may find it more difficult to attend cultural events. We want to bring the art of singing to people – rather than always expecting people to come to it.
