Portrait: Kurt Weill

To mark the anniversary year of German composer Kurt Weill, singers Sigríður Thorlacius and Hildigunnur Einarsdóttir put together a diverse concert programme featuring songs and music for the stage from different periods of his career. They first performed the programme at the Við Djúpið Music Festival in 2025, and it will now be presented at Reykjavík Opera Days in autumn 2026.

New arrangements by Þórður Magnússon, written especially for the singers and ensemble, create a unique sound world in which classical music and jazz meet in Weill’s works, sung in German, English, French and Icelandic.
