Thora Einarsdottir studied at the Reykjavik Academy of Singing and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Laura Sarti and graduated from the Guildhall’s Opera Course. Thora started her career at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 1995. She has performed at English National Opera, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Opera North, Geneva Opera, Theatre du Capitol Toulouse, Opera de Lausanne, Theater Basel, Salzburger Landestheater, Prague National Theater, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Theater Regensburg, Staatstheater Karlsruhe and Malmö Opera. Thora was a member of the ensemble at Staatstheater Wiesbaden from 2000-2008 and she has been a regular guest at the Icelandic Opera during her career.  Her roles include Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice), Elmira (Creusus), Pepa (Tiefland), Clarine (Platé), Cleopatra, Ilia, Pamina, Susanna, Zerlina, Barbarina, Papagena, Woglinde, Waldvogel, Ortlinde, Marzelline and Ännchen, Gretel, Nanetta, Mimí, Michaela, Gilda and Adina amongst others. Thora has sung in new operas by composers Harrison Birtwhistle, Simon Holt, Sunleif Rasmussen, Grigory Fried, Daníel Bjarnason, Jón Ásgeirsson og Gunnar Þórðarson. Thora has an extensive experience as a Lied and Oratorio singer, and has performed in venues such as The Barbican Hall, Royal Albert Hall og Royal Festival Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, Berliner Dome, Philharmonie am Gasteig, Kennedy Center in Washington og Weill Recital Hall í New York. Thora has done numerous recordings including a world premiere recording of Offenbach’s Vert-Vert by Opera Rara. She has received many honors and won numerous awards including the Icelandic Order of the Falcon and the Danish Order of Dannebrog. Thora is currently Dean of School of Film, Music and Performing Arts at Iceland University of the Arts.
