Seltjarnarnes Chamber Choir

Chamber choir

Seltjarnarnes Chamber Choir was founded in 1992 by Hákon Leifsson, who at the time served as the church organist. On top of singing in the choir’s regular concert program, many choir members take part in sermons and other events at the church. In recent years, the choir has performed compositions by Ola Gjelo, Arvo Pärt, Knut Nystedt, Bob Chilcott, Javier Busto, Bára Grímsdóttir, Egill Gunnarsson, Sigurður Sævarsson to name a few.
Seltjarnarnes Chamber Choir regularly joins forces with The Iceland Amateur Symphony Orchestra. Together they proudly premiere new compositions and enjoy classics by J. Haydn, A. Vivaldi, C. Ph. E. Bach, G. A. Homelius, J. J. Ryba, T. Albinoni, J. S. Bach, C. Monteverdi, F. B. Mendelsohn and F. X. Brixi.

Soloists are mostly members of the choir, as many of them have extensive training in solo singing at a professional level.
