Ulrich Stærk
Pianist

Ulrich Stærk ranks among the elite of Danish and Scandinavian pianists, performing around 120 concerts each year across Europe, as well as in Asia and the United States.
He is one of the few Danish artists to have appeared at Carnegie Hall, and has performed in prestigious venues such as Radio France Concert Hall and Musée d’Orsay in Paris, Salla dei Papi in Rome, and in cities including Milan, Vienna, Tokyo, Taipei, Berlin, Brussels, Oslo, Helsinki, and Stockholm.
He has appeared as a soloist with nearly all Danish symphony orchestras, in addition to the Schleswig-Holstein Symphony Orchestra. Among his many distinctions are the Music Reviewers’ Art Award, grants from the Augustinus Foundation, Højgaard Foundation, Van Hauen Foundation, Thyra Händlers Honorary Grant, Merete and Helge Finsen Foundation, POLITIKEN, and he has been named Artist of the Year in both Furesø and Aabenraa municipalities.
Ulrich Stærk has received numerous nominations, including for P2’s Artist of the Year, CD of the Year, CD of the Month in The Strad Magazine, CD of the Year / Critics’ Choice in GRAMOPHONE, and three Grammy nominations. His recordings have also been highlighted by Virgin Classics and other major outlets.
He has recorded extensively for PHILIPS, BRILLIANT CLASSICS, NAXOS, Marco Polo, Kontrapunkt, dacapo Records, Art Produktion, and Claves, among others.
A frequent performer for the Danish Royal Family, Stærk has been invited to play at both official state occasions and private royal events, including performances at Fredensborg Palace.
In 2017, Ulrich Stærk was included in Den Blå Bog (The Blue Book), an honor reserved for a select few classical musicians in Denmark.
In 2014, he released the acclaimed CD Concert for a Prince in celebration of Prince Henrik’s 80th birthday. Presented at Fredensborg Palace during a festive reception, the recording features several piano concertos performed with The Prince’s Music Corps.
In 2019, he released Royal Piano Night to mark Prince Joachim’s 50th birthday. The album received exceptional praise and has become one of the most frequently played recordings on DR P2, Denmark’s national classical music station. It features a series of nocturnes by beloved composers including Brahms, Schumann, and Debussy.
Ulrich Stærk currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
