Calm - a release concert

Calm is a new CD with songs by Ingibjörg Azima which will be released on the 25th of October by Odradek records. To celebrate the release a concert will be held in Fríkirkjan in Reykjavík in the evening of 25th of October at 20.00. In the concert all the 11 songs of the CD will be performed by Azima ensemble. The four small song cycles on this album were written between 2010 - 2022 and recorded in the summer of 2022. Each cycle is for a specific instrumentation and contains poems by the same poet, all of whom are are Icelandic and three of whom are still alive. In addition to the soprano voice and the piano, a bass clarinet, a cello, a flute or the trombone are added depending on the cycle. The songs of the CD are inspired by the subject of the poems which in short terms could be described as love in all its forms, Icelandic nature and human existence.
