Fjóla finished her DipABRSM from The Reykjavík Institute of Singing and Vocal Arts in May 2009. She continued her studies in Austria, first at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and then at the Musik und Kunst Universität der Stadt Wien, in Vienna where she in 2015 finished her Master of Opera under the guidance of Professor Uta Schwabe. In the last few years Fjóla has had lessons with well know Icelandic soprano Sigrún Hjálmtýsdóttir (Diddú) at the Sigurður Demetz Singing School. Fjóla has participated in many masterclasses and private lessons with, for example, Kiri Te Kanawa, Laura Sarti, Barbara Bonney, Richard Stokes and Clara Taylor. Fjóla regularly performs as a soloist, most recently in the role of Baldursbrá in a new childrens opera by Gunnsteinn Ólafsson – a role she created – Despina in Cosi fan tutte by Mozart and Amina in La Sonnambula by Bellini. Fjóla has also for the last six years held many solo concerts for the Classical Concert Company Reykjavík at Harpa. Fjóla is a member of the renowned chamber choir Schola Cantorum of Hallgrímskirkja, the chamber choir Melodia and the Choir of the Icelandic Opera. She has performed with the Salzburger Bachchor and the Choir of the Volksoper in Vienna. She conducts the choir Hljómfélagið and The Reykjavík Scout choir.
