Hugi Jónsson finished an M.Mus degree in opera singing from Het Utrechts Konservatorium in Holland in 2012. Hugi has been active in Icelandic musical life since 2003, and currently mostly performs at church services. In 2015, Hugi sang the solo part of J.S. Bach's Johannes Passion together with the Grafarvogur Church Chamber Choir. He also released two records where he sings Icelandic hymns, Kvöldbæn (Evening Prayer) and Heilög jól, aðventu- og jólasálmar frá gamla Íslandi (Christmas Hymns from Old Iceland). The records were released in cooperation with Kári Allansson, organist. Further, Hugi sang one of the leading roles of the opera The Bear, by William Walton, at the Cycles Art Festival in Kópavogur, Iceland. Further recitals of The Bear will take place
in June 2016, in Reykjavík and in Härjedalens Kulturcent, Sweden.
