Lilja Margrét Riedel

Lilja Margrét Riedel was born in Reykjavik 1991. Her musical education began in Laugarnesskóli, in first grade primary school. She studied the flute with Jósef Magnússon. 12 years of age, she moved to Stykkishólmur where she continued her flute studies but soon the singing took over altogether. Background in flute playing helped alot in singing, she reckons. Moving back to Reykjavik at 19 years old, going to Reykjavik School of Visual arts for a year, then to the University of Iceland to study German and Translation which she graduated from in the fall of 2014. Lilja studies now at Reykjavik College of Music with Alina Dubik as her vocal teacher. Lilja studies piano along with the singing. She is also a member of the Icelandic Opera Choir, where she had her first experience on stage in Mozarts Don Giovanni last february. She was cast in the silent role of Donna Elviras maid. The next performance Lilja will be participating in with the Icelandic Opera Choir will be Tchaikovsky‘s Eugene Onegin coming october.
