Bergdís Júlía is an actress, director, mother, lover of poetry and an enthusiast about humans, nature, music and pizza. She graduated from Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance in 2013 and there she founded Spindrift Theatre. With Spindrift she has created theatre both in Iceland and abroad. Last winter Bergdís directed the music theatre piece Skemmtilegt er myrkrið (Delightful is the Dark) by Elín Gunnlaugsdóttir, which was performed at Reykjavík Operadays at Kaldalón, Harpa.
Bergdís is unafraid of exploring the possibillities of theatre. She works as a hospital clown at the children's hospital and leads workshops for an assosiation called Our World, which focuses on supporting children of parents with mental illness.
Bergdís is now pursuing her master's degree in stage arts at The Icelandic Arts University.
Ástin ein taugahrúga (Love a nervous breakdown, the opera) is the third performance Bergdís directs for Spindrift.
